Episode 4: Ember at… Canyons

We had a great time on vacation! However back to reality now. I start get busy with ImaginASL Performing Arts by preparing for our 3rd Annual Mystery Murder Dinner Party this December Friday the 13th as full-time of course, so I will not have much time left. So grab your popcorn and enjoy the short film which it’s around 15 minutes! Grab your opportunity to learn some of sign languages in this film!

This is also good thing I just finished editing the film which it took me whole day so I only do 4 days in film (Day 3, 4, 5, and 6) but here is the more details down here that was not took films.

Days in Kanab, Utah

Day 1: We drove from Brighton, Colorado to Grand Junction for a night.

Day 2: Grand Junction, Colorado to Kanab which we have arrived during early evening.

Day 3: We went to Moqui Cave which is a cave museum full of Native American artifacts and then we went back to get Grandma to join with us to Dinosaur Tracks just off the highway north of Kanab, the hike will lead you to dinosaur tracks in the flat rocks on top of the cliff and it’s not an easy or well marked hike which Ember can manage it herself which was a very impressed! Then we went to Sand Cave which you can seen from the highway and require just a short half mile round trip hike to get there. They are man-made from sand mining, but provide a cool short stop to explore and take some pictures/films.

Day 4: Went to Belly of the Dragon as it is actually a drainage tunnel that goes under the highway, but the wavy rock cavern in an interesting little place to explore. It’s a short hike just off the highway, but you can continue through the “belly” and extend your hike for another 4 miles if you want. We only did real short there then we went to Best Friend Animal Sanctuary which we decided to look at rabbits only, and then to Coral Pink Sand Dunes which it was fun walking across the dunes with no shoes on! Grandpa did joined with us on that day.

Day 5: Went to Toadstool Hoodoos as Ember’s Uncle Tim and Aunt Christine joined with us plus Grandma’s dog. We saw rock that looks like mushrooms formations that you may have caught a glimpse of when driving on the highway between Kanab and Page. The hike out to walk out among them is just a mile (one way) through washes and along an easy to follow path. After that we went to Wire Pass & Buckskin Gulch Slot Canyons to hike as we did a short 2 mile (one way) easy hike with the last 1/4 mile going through a beautiful and tight slot leading into Buckskin gulch. For me with an 8 ft drop in the middle of the slot where you can climb down and up the ladder was the hardest part to do but worth it! Petroglyphs can also be seen just past the slot.

Day 6: Lucky Grandma won the advanced lottery which it is very rare to get since only can have 5-25% chance! The Wave is a super famous and super elusive hike is THE most popular in the area. However, permits are required and are hard to get but we did got it!!!! The next day we got to go to The Wave and the hike itself is 6.4 round trip. It was champ experience for us all. (Thank you Grandma!)

Day 7: Drove back to Colorado so we stopped in Cortez, Colorado for a night also we did visited four corner states there.

Day 8: Visited Mesa Verde National Park for couple hours then got home at night.
