Every Dream Has Its Price: Setting Goals as a Deaf Mother

I’m excited to launch this new blog! After nearly a week of planning, I’m ready to share my journey as a Deaf mother. I will also share my experiences navigating both the Deaf and hearing worlds.

Setting Goals with a Purpose

Right now, I’m focused on three main areas:

  1. This Blog: Building a space where I can share my story.
  2. Being a Mother to Ember: My beautiful daughter who inspires me every day.
  3. Running My Business: Balancing work and family life.

To help me stay on track, I’m using “The Success Principles” by Jack Canfield. This book is a great tool for setting and tracking goals, not just for work, but for life too. You can check it out here.

How I Set My Goals

Here’s how I approach goal setting:

Micro Goals: These are smaller, actionable steps that bring me closer to my bigger goals. I break them down into tasks and milestones to track my progress.

Bigger Picture Goals: These are long-term goals I plan to achieve in the next 2 to 5 years. Even though they won’t happen at once, keeping them in mind helps me stay focused.

My Vision Board

Once my goals are set, I create a vision board for the year. I do this every year on my birthday (November 24th, 2024 to be 50 years old). Vision boards help me visualize my goals and stay motivated. I’ll share more about how I create mine once it’s finished.

What About You?

What goals are you working on? How do you turn your goals into action?
