Hey friends! Welcome to my very first income report!
I am so pumped to share this with you. From now on, each month I’ll be breaking down exactly how much I earned (or, let’s be honest, didn’t), how much time I spent hustling, and what this journey looks like for me as I balance it all.
So, why am I doing this?
-
- Keeping it real:
We’ve all seen those “Work 10 minutes and make $5,000!” ads, right? Yeah, no. That’s not how any of this works. Building an online business is hard work, and I want to show you exactly what it takes, not just in terms of income but also the time and energy I put into it. Spoiler: there’s a lot of both.
- Keeping it real:

- Tracking my own journey:
As a busy mom to my awesome 8-year-old daughter, life is a juggling act! These reports help me stay organized and give me a clear picture of where my time and money are going. I can look back each month and say, “Okay, here’s where I’m spending too much (hello, coffee budget!)” or “Wow, I crushed it on time management this month.”

- Accountability crew (that’s you!):
By putting my goals out there, I’m counting on you to help keep me on track. Whether it’s a kind word of encouragement or a nudge to keep pushing when things get tough, your support is going to make all the difference.
- Accountability crew (that’s you!):
Alright, now that we’ve covered the “why,” let’s jump into the juicy details of September’s report!
How much did I work this month?
Whew, this month was a busy one! Between school runs, snack making, and trying to keep my 8-year-old entertained (if you know, you know), I still managed to put in 45 hours on my website.
On top of that, I spent another 3 hours working as a Director of Artistic Sign Language (DASL) for a few theater projects.
That brings my total working time to 48 hours. And let me tell you, balancing all of this with mom life is no joke, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Now, let’s talk dollars…
Okay, here’s where it gets real. After crunching the numbers, I realized that I’m actually paying $2.18 an hour to work on my website. Yup, you read that right—paying myself! And that’s not even factoring in all the things I could’ve done instead (hello, Netflix and naps).
In total, I lost $187 this month. Oof, right?
But am I discouraged? Not even close!
Here’s why: I managed to make $50 from one of my DASL contracts, and even though that’s not a huge number, it’s proof that what I’m doing can work. It’s like that little spark of hope that reminds me this journey isn’t for nothing.
The truth is, most businesses don’t turn a profit in the first year. While I’m hoping that won’t be the case for me, I’m realistic. Success takes time, patience, and a lot of grit. And as a mom, I’ve got plenty of that!
I’ll be honest—putting in 48 hours of hard work and ending the month with a loss isn’t the most fun. But I believe in what I’m building here, and I’m going to keep grinding because I know the tide will turn. It’s just a matter of when!
Wrapping it up!
So that’s it, folks—my very first income report.
Was it tough to see the numbers? Yeah. But I’m sharing this because I want to be transparent about the journey. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither is an online business (or, let’s be real, a Deaf mom’s sanity).
If you’re still reading this, THANK YOU! Your support means the world to me, especially right now when I’m pouring my time and energy into something that hasn’t quite paid off yet. If you feel like making my day, drop me a comment below with some love, advice, or just a virtual high-five. Trust me, I need all the good vibes right now.
Stay tuned for next month’s report, and let’s see where this adventure takes us next.
